Tightening Positions Page

Setting up the Tightening Process

ILG software has no fixed tightening order which must be followed and ILG software offers different methods to support the setup of the tightening process. These methods are not exclusive and can be combined in different ways according to the specific requirements.

In general, to set up a complete tightening process, the user must:

  1. Create a process structure - Depending on the application, different groups and positions must be arranged within the tree structure to define the process flow.

  2. Set up the general tightenings parameter - Each tightening process is regulated by different specifications, which are valid for several tightening positions. These setting options include, for example, the loosening strategy, the referencing method, or the reject management.

  3. Define the enabling and disabling volumes - A tolerance volume is defined around each position that is tightened in the process, which controls the release of the tool. Only if the tool is within the tolerance volume of the position, the tightening tool is enabled.

  4. Make the teaching of the tightening positions - The main task of ILG software is to compare the current tool position with the predefined nominal positions. This nominal value is stored as Cartesian coordinates in the positions during the teach process.

Tightening Position Page Buttons

On the Tightening Position page it is possible to add workpieces, groups and positions, and set the settings, the configuration, and the process structure of the tightening positions. The process structure order is shown in the Positions table below the buttons.

The buttons that are visible depend the specific sensor that is connected to the tool selected in the Tool dropdown menu.

  • Add Workpiece: adds a new workpiece.

    Add Workpiece button.
  • Add Group: adds a new group above the currently selected position.

    Add Group button.
  • Add Position: adds a new position.

    Add Position button.
  • Edit: opens the editing menu for the selected workpiece, group or position.

    Edit button.
  • Delete: deletes the selected element.

    Delete button.
  • TEACHING: starts the teaching mode where a series of new positions can be re-taught or created.

    Teaching button.
  • TEACH: starts the teaching process and adds one position to the selected workpiece.

    Teach button.
  • RETEACH: sets the XYZ values of the selected position depending on the tool physical position.

    Reteach button.
  • RETEACH RELATIVE: uses the relative position to a dynamic tag for teaching.

    Reteach Relative button.
  • Copy: copies the selected item (workpiece/group/position) or specific parameters of the selected item in the process structure.

    Copy button.
  • Paste: pastes the copied item (workpiece/group/position) or specific parameters of the selected item into the process structure.

    Paste button.
  • SHIFT WORKPIECES: changes the coordinate system of all workpieces or of one workpiece in three possible ways. One option is a rotation around the centroid (the centroid is a mean position of all the points in the selected volume, creating an origin). A second option is a change in X, Y, Z-coordinate and a third option is a change in RX, RY, RZ-angle.

    Shift Workpieces button.
  • PROJECTION PREVIEW: opens a window that shows a preview of all projections for the selected item.

    Projection Preview button.
  • Up arrow key: moves the item up in the process structure order inside of the current workpieces/groups.

  • Down arrow key: moves the item down in the process structure order inside of the current workpieces/groups.

  • Left arrow key: moves the item outside of the current workpiece/group.

  • Right arrow key: moves the item outside of the current workpiece/group.
