Creating a Workpiece or a Group

  1. In the Configuration mode, on the Tightening Positions page, in the Positions list cancel the selection for all the existing elements. Then, select the Add Workpiece button at the upper-left corner to add a workpiece.

    Alternatively, select the Add Group button at the upper-left corner to add a group.

  2. In the Workpiece or Group tab, enter and select the workpiece parameters:

    • ID: enters the unique identifier string of the workpiece/group.
      All IDs must be globally unique, so that no other worpiece. group or position may have the same ID.

    • Alias: when tightening is started on a workpiece, the ID is seen in the top-left corner of the screen. Enter an alias in the Alias field to show a custom name instead of the ID. An alias example: multi_spindle.
      All aliases must be globally unique, so that no other workpiece, group or position may have the same alias.

    • Order: selects the tightening order inside the group, which can be Forced Order or Free Order.

      • Free Order: the operator is free to choose the tightening sequence (or order) of the positions.
        Visual indication is given when the tool is in one of the specified tightening positions.

      • Forced Order: the operator is not free to choose the tightening sequence (or order) of the positions.
        The operator must follow the sequence which is defined by the ordering of the positions in ILG software – from top to bottom. Operator guidance gives a blue position indicator at the specified tightening position.

    Within groups with a defined order, it is possible to create a group with another order. The program changes the order as soon as the corresponding subgroup has been selected.

    Once the operator starts a tightening within a given group, all elements (tightenings and subgroups) of this group must be finished before moving on to another group of the same hierarchy level.

    • Type: the type for a workpiece is Workpiece by default. It is not editable.

      The Type for a group is -- by default for the group type. It can be changed to Level for the level type.

    • Loosening: defines in which positions the ILG software allows the operator to perform loosening.
      Select the necessary loosening setting.

      • Forbidden: does not allow loosening at all.

      • Valid positions: allows loosening in all positions.

      • Enabled positions: allows loosening in all enabled positions.

      • Worked on positions: allows loosening in all positions, which have been worked on (OK or NOK).

      • Unsuccessful positions: allows loosening in all positions with a NOK tightening result.

      • Last position: allows loosening in the last position. If the last position has been loosened, it changes to the previous position, which thus allows loosening in reverse tightening order.

    • Keep tool running: controls if the tool that started in a valid tightening position is still enabled if the operator moves the tool outside of the position during the tightening.
      We recommend to select false. Select true only for very special applications.

    • Retries: selects how many retries are allowed for tightening positions. In the No loosening required/Require loosening dropdown menu, it is possible to configure if loosening is required.

    • Bypass a NOK: selects if a tightening position can be bypassed when you get a NOK result.

    • Tools: assigns the necessary tool to the Workpiece/Group.

  3. In the Projections tab, it is possible to add, edit and delete projections with the buttons in the upper-left corner. The parameters that are entered and selected are:

    • Shape: Choose the shape to project. Each shape has unique dimensions. The available shapes are:

      • Arc

      • Arrow

      • Circle

      • Cross

      • Rectangle

      • Square

      • Text

      • Line

    • Relative: Set the projection to be on the workpiece/group or to be on the bolts.

    • Radius: Set the radius of the projection in millimeters.

    • Offset: Set the distance to the projected cross in millimeters.

    • Shows When...: Use this setting to decide when the projection is shown:

    The projection only shows when the tool direction is Clockwise/Counter Clockwise.

    Select the ToolID.

    • Invisible

    The projection only shows when the tool is Visible/Invisible.

    Select the ToolID.

    Tool In Current Volume

    • ToolID

    The projection only shows when the tool is in the current volume for the chosen ToolID.

    I/O is...

    • High

    • Low

    The projection only shows when the I/O is High/Low.

    Enter a number value for the I/O signal id.

    Select the ToolID.

    The projection always shows.

    Projections for a workpiece or a group can be inherited by groups and positions. To turn off inheritance for a group or position, edit the group or position and clear the Inherit workpiece/group projections box.

    When projections are listed in the Projections tab, inherited projections are shown above a horizontal line. The projections that are listed below the line are not inherited.

  4. In the Advanced tab, enter and select the advanced parameters:

    • Workflow options (optional)

      • Require effective loosening: if true is selected, loosening is only counted if the tool had a minimum torque during loosening.

      • Geometry condition: enables conditional segments in the geometry. In the Setup mode, on the Tools page, on the Geometry tab, the condition can be called when creating a geometry model or a spindle geometry.

      • Part Target Id: enables dynamic part target referencing.

        This option is only possible for workpieces.

      • Invalidate part target at start: if it is selected it stops the positioning update of the tool, if the tag is not visible at the start of the tightening process.

        This option is only possible for workpieces.

      • Position Number: Start Bit Offset / Digit Count: specifies the start bit and how many digits that will be used. This is an alternative to Input Groups.

        This option is only possible for workpieces.

      • Use Tool Orientation: adds an Orientation tab in the Position settings where the Tool Direction Vector and the Enabling/Disabling Angle can be set. Default values are set for the Tool Direction Vector after the function teach is used.

        This option is only possible for workpieces.

      • PSet after done: after the workpiece is finished the selected Pset will be set on the controller.

        This option is only possible for workpieces.

      • Delay on enter [ms]: delays the tool that enters a workpiece volume by ms.

      • Delay on leave [ms]: delays the tool that leaves a workpiece volume by ms.

    • Referencing (optional)

      These options are only possible for workpieces.

      • Reference position 1-3: enter the IDs of up to 3 reference positions for workpiece referencing.

      • 2P Referencing Axis: selects the rotation axis, around which the workpiece is rotated. Only used if 2-point referencing is used.

    Validation (optional)

    These options are only possible for workpieces.

    • Identify intersecting volumes: For circles and/or cylinders it is possible to identify if position volumes are intersecting. In this case, select the check box next to Circles and/or cylinders only.

      This option is selected per default. If this option is selected and the position volumes are intersecting a warning icon will show up next to the position volume in the Enabling Volume and the Disabling Volume column. The position volume that is intersecting with the position volume in the table will show if the user hovers over the warning icon.

  5. At the lower-right corner of the pop-up window, select SAVE.
