Disassembling the brake

Perform Brake disc wear inspection (CBUL) before disassembly.

Required tools

  • Allen keys or bits 4-10 mm

  • Screw bits and sockets

  • Torx® keys or bits T6-T25

  • Torque wrench

  • Lifting device

  • Screwdrivers

  • Pliers

  • Bearing puller (optional)

  • Feeler gauge

Only use Klüberlub® BE 71-501

Use of other lubricants will permanently damage the press.

  1. Disconnect the 24V power supply from the brake.

  2. Unscrew the screw holding the brake connector. Let the connector socket hang by the cables.

  3. Unscrew the screws holding the brake to the gearbox.

  4. Disassemble brake assembly.

  5. Unscrew the screws (4x) holding the connector base.

  6. Unscrew the top cover screws.

  7. Disassemble the top cover.

  8. Disassemble the shim plates.

  9. Flip the brake assembly.

  10. Unscrew the screws holding the base plate.

  11. Remove the base plate.

  12. Turn the brake assembly.

  13. Unscrew the screws fixing the brake cover to the brake stator.

  14. Disassemble the brake connector.

  15. Disassemble the brake from the outer housing by holding the splined shaft.

  16. Separate the stator from brake disc (24 V power is needed).

  17. Disassemble the stop screws.

  18. Disassemble the wave washer and the bearing from the spline axle.

  19. Disassemble brake disc from the spline axle.

  20. Disassemble the bearing using a puller.
