Open End Configuration

The open end configuration function is available for tools configured with open end Gear Front Attachment (GFA). The function is used for configuring the way the GFA returns to the open position after a tightening.

Before using an open end tool, make sure that the tool head and tool body have been assembled and configured correctly. If not, the tool can run in the wrong direction and the mechanical stop in the open end head may be damaged.

Description

Automatic Positioning

  • On: With automatic positioning enabled the operator can continue to hold down the tool trigger after the tightening, to return to the open position automatically. If the operator releases the tool trigger before the automatic positioning is completed, the tool returns to the open position using the selected Positioning Strategy.

  • Off: default value.
After the tightening is performed and the trigger is released, the operator must press the tool trigger again until the full automatic positioning is completed.

Positioning Strategy

  • Forward: default value.
The tool runs forward to the open position (in the same direction as the tightening direction).

  • Reverse: the tool runs in the reverse direction to get to the open position (in the opposite direction of the tightening direction).

  • Reverse Torque Based: the tool returns to the open position by reversing slowly and monitoring the torque.

  • Forward Fast Start: the tool returns to the open position as quick as possible.

Reverse Torque Based and Forward Fast Start strategies are recommended for open end tools with swiveling front part.

Positioning Speed

Positioning Speed defines how quickly the tool returns to the open position, and is expressed as the percentage (%) of the open end tool maximum speed.

Positioning Speed can range from 5-100%. Default is set to 38%.
