Tool parameters

  • Name (*): type the name of the tool.

  • Description: type a description of the tool.

  • Model (*): add/select the tool model.
    Do one of the following:

    • Click Add icon () to add a new tool model.
      In the Add Tool Model dialog box, enter the details related to new tool.
      Then, click Save.

    • Click Search icon () to select a tool model already configured.
      In the Tool Model workspace, select the necessary tool model.
      Then, click Apply.

If Tool model is set to Generic, the tool can not be linked to joints, controllers and inspections. If these links are created, an error message is displayed

  • Serial number (*): type the serial number of the tool.

  • Identifier: type the identification code linked to the tool.

  • Location (*): select the area of the plant where using the new tool model. By default it is set to the is the location of the user.
    Do as follows:
    Click Location icon ().
    In the Location dialog box, select the area of the plant where using the new tool model.
    Then, click Apply.

  • Status (*): select one of the following options, depending on the status of the tool:

    • In use: the tool is ready to work on the production applications.

    • Backup: the tool is not currently used but it is ready to replace an operating tool on the assembly line.

    • Toolcrib: the tool is stored in the toolcrib. It is waiting for the assignment to a production location depending on the incoming production needs. Do a tool check before a regular usage on the assembly line.

    • Service/Repair: the tool cannot be used on the assembly line before maintenance is complete. The capability of the tool is verified according to customer’s procedures.

    • Scrapped/Disabled: the tool is out of order. Do not use it on the assembly line.

    • At the end of the list, all the enabled custom status configured by the user are displayed.
      The user can configure the custom status in the Application settings page.

    By default, the status is set to In use.

  • ToolsNet8: yes if the tool exists in ToolsNet 8, no otherwise.

ToolsNet 8 is a read-only value.

  • Supplier: click the arrow to open the supplier list and select the necessary supplier.
    To add a new supplier, click Add icon ().
    In the Add Supplier dialog box, enter the details related to new supplier.
    Then, click Save.

  • Purchase date: click the box and select the purchase date.
    To delete a purchase date previously configured, click Delete icon ().

  • Joints: in the Joints box, select the necessary joint.
    To add a new joint, click Add icon ().
    In the Add Joint dialog box, enter the details related to new joint.
    Then, click Save.
    To select a joint already configured, click Search icon ().
    In the Joints workspace, select the necessary joint.
    Then, click Apply.
    To view the Joint Details card of a joint already configured, in the Joint box, select it.
    Then, click View icon ().
    To delete a joint already configured, in the Joint box, select it.
    Then, click Delete icon ().

Joints can be linked only to tools whose status is either In use, Backup or Toolcrib.

  • Notes: if necessary, type a note.

Items marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

Controller unit

  • Controller unit: add/select the controller unit.
    Do one of the following:

    • Click Add icon () to add a new controller unit.
      In the Add Controller Unit dialog box, enter the details related to new controller unit.
      Then, click Save.

    • Click Search icon () to select a controller unit already configured.
      In the Controller Units workspace, select the necessary controller unit.
      Then, click Apply.

    • Click Delete icon ( ) to delete a controller unit already configured.

Controllers' data can be linked only to tools whose status is either In use, Backup or Toolcrib.

By selecting an already existing Controller unit, the information on the connectivity are automatically populated and cannot be edited.

  • Controller unit type (*): from the drop-down list select among:

    • Power Focus

    • PowerMACS

    • Generic

    • Open Protocol

      Then, configure the following parameters:

  • Serial number (*): type the serial number of the controller.

  • Type (*): select between Ethernet or Serial.

  • Baud rate: The baud rate is the data transmission speed set for the communication between the controller and the host.
    Select one of the following options:

    • 9600

    • 19200

    • 38400

    • 57600

    • 115200

  • Host: type the host address of the controller.

  • Port: type the port to communicate with the controller.
