Configuring a Wireless Client

Wireless Client mode and Wireless AP mode cannot be active at the same time.

  1. Go to Settings in the home menu and select Network in the left pane.

  2. Go to Wireless Client and select Edit.

  3. Edit the General settings.

    1. Set Enabled to On.

    2. Set DHCP to On or Off, depending on the configuration.

    3. IF DHCP is set to Off, set the IP address, Subnet mask, and Gateway. Ask your local system administrator for the correct settings.

    4. Enter a Network name (SSID).

  4. Edit the Security settings.

    1. Select Mode and choose a security mode from the list.

    2. Edit the Security settings as applicable. The available settings depend on which mode is selected.

      Security key

      Set the alphanumeric password. The minimum length of the security key is 8 characters, and the maximum length is 63 characters.

      Identity

      Set the identity of the tool.

      User name

      Set the user name.

      Password

      Set the password.

      CA-cert

      Select the CA certificate with the Browse button. It can be either of PEM format or Binary (DER).

      Client-cert

      Select the client certificate with the Browse button. It can be either of PEM format or Binary (DER).

      Private key

      Select the private key with the Browse button. It can be either of PEM format or Binary (DER).

      Private key password

      Set the password used for the private key.

      Fast PAC

      Set the Protected Access Credentials (PAC).

      MSCHAPv2

      Set MSCHAPv2 On or Off.

  5. Edit the Optional Settings as applicable.

    Hostname

    Set a hostname for the tool.

    Warn on signal strength below (dBm)

    Set the signal strength at which a warning should be given. If the signal strength drops below this limit, the event 3095 WiFi Signal Strength Low will be triggered.

    The WiFi Signal Strength Low event is disabled by default but can be enabled in the event configuration.

    Roaming threshold (dBm)

    Set the roaming threshold at which the tool will scan and roam more frequently.

    Minimum: -90

    Default: -70

    Maximum: -45

    Active scanning interval (s)

    Set the time in seconds between scans when the signal strength is lower than the value set in Roaming threshold (dBm). The tool will scan for an access point more frequently.

    Passive scanning interval (s)

    Set the time in seconds between scans when the signal strength is higher than the value set in Roaming threshold (dBm).

    Connect to Hidden Wi-Fi Network

    If the network (SSID) is hidden, set this value to On.

  6. Select Apply.

    When using the tool in Integrated Controller Mode, the tool's blue connection LED indicator will emit a steady light when the tool has establish a wireless connection to the network.

    When using the tool in IxB Connect mode, the tool's blue connection LED indicator will emit a steady light when the tool has established a connection to a virtual station.

  7. To access the user interface wirelessly, type the IP address into a web browser.
