Configuring StepSync

The configuration of the Sync Reference and all Sync Members needs to be completed before performing the hardware set-up.

Configuring the Sync Reference

  1. On the home view, go to the Controller tab and select StepSync on the left pane.

  2. Go to the StepSync window and select the ellipsis icon next to No Sync.

    The Step Sync Mode window appears.

  3. Select Sync Reference.

    The Step Sync Mode window closes.

  4. Select Apply.

    The controller will reboot and boot into the StepSync configuration, which is a simplified version of the regular PF8 GUI.

Enabling StepSync

In order for StepSync to work, it has to be enabled on the Sync Reference. There are two ways to enable StepSync:

  1. Set the I/O signal Enable Operation (10055) to High, or

  2. In the Sync reference, go to the Configurations tab, select General Virtual Station on the left pane and then select Edit for the configuration in question. Then, in the Fixtured Stations window, set Auto Enable to Always.

If StepSync has not been enabled, at runtime an error message appears saying "Unable to start, enable signal is low."

Configuring the Sync Member

  1. On the home view, go to the Controller tab and select StepSync on the left pane.

  2. On the StepSync window, select the ellipsis icon next to No Sync.

    The Step Sync Mode window appears.

  3. Select Sync Member.

    The Step Sync Mode window closes.

  4. In the Channel window, set the channel number for the Sync Member by selecting the channel number. Then select the appropriate channel for the Sync Member.

    The channel numbers of the Sync Members in the same set-up must be unique.

  5. Select Apply.

    The controller will reboot and boot into the Sync Member configuration, which will only display the Sync Member's channel number.

Switching back to regular PF8 mode (exiting StepSync)

  1. On the home view, go to the Controller tab and select StepSync on the left pane.

  2. On the StepSync window, select the ellipsis icon next to Sync Reference.

    The Step Sync Mode window appears.

  3. Select No Sync.

    The Step Sync Mode window closes.

  4. Select Apply.

    The controller will reboot and boot into the regular configuration.
