Changing the Latch Function
Instruction Supplement
Changing the Latch Function
The socket latch can be changed to one of two functions:
Locking function – the latch must be pressed in with a tool before the socket can be removed.
Non-locking function – the socket can be pulled out from the shaft.

To change the function of the latch:
Bend the service tool (4220 8911 02) into a U-shape with your hands, or with a pair of pliers, and put it on the output shaft.
Place the shaft in a vise, so that the latch is pushed in.
Push out the locking pin with the 1.4 mm mandrel (4080 0333 00) by hand. If needed, tap the mandrel gently with a small hammer.
Discard the pin.
Open the vise and remove the service tool.
Turn the latch to the required position:
Locking function – the flat side turned out.
Non-locking function – the round side turned out.

Lubricate the latch and the pin hole with a drop of oil.

Do not lose the spring.
Push in the latch by hand and put the mandrel in the hole, to position the slot in the latch correctly.
Put the service tool back on the output shaft.
Place the shaft in a vise, so that the latch is pushed in.
Remove the mandrel.
Pull back the 1.8 mm mandrel casing (4080 0334 00). Place a new pin in the mandrel hole. Approximately 1 mm of the pin should be visible.
Prop the pin end of the mandrel against the shaft, then raise it until it is at a 90° angle to the shaft.
Move the mandrel until the pin enters the hole in the shaft.
Push in the new locking pin into place with the mandrel by hand. If needed, tap the mandrel gently with a small hammer.

Hold the mandrel straight.
